What additional documentation is needed for registration?

Each athlete must provide a copy of their original birth certificate.

If you are a returning athlete, we should have your birth certificate on file and will need to verify a copy is in our system.  We are in the process of creating a spreadsheet of birth certificates on file from previous years. Please be patient with us while we compile this information!

Unless otherwise notified, we encourage returning athletes to have a copy of their birth certificate on hand to turn in at uniform sizing.

Can I pay with a check?

No, HYAA no longer accepts checks as a form of payment (sorry!).  Payments can be made in cash or card at sign-ups or online through a secure payment system.

Are there any additional costs throughout the season?

HYAA does not and will not require any additional payments outside of registration.  However, each team may choose to purchase additional items for their athletes (football & cheer).  These items are voluntary and should be agreed upon by the team's parents.  Coordination and purchase is typically handled by the Team Mom.

Examples may include: fruit & drinks for halftime refreshments, homecoming float decorations, team party items, October "pink" items for Breast Cancer Awareness month, etc.

How often are practices?  Where are they held?

By rule, there can be a maximum of four (4) events (games and practices) per week.

Practice days for all teams are Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and are held at various locations within I.T. May Park.  The weekly schedule may change due to school events and weeks during the regular season when we do not have games scheduled.

Exception: Practices may be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday the first two weeks of the season, starting August 1st (when games are not scheduled).

Is there an age limit for participation?

HYAA programs are designed for youth football players and cheerleaders ages 4-12.  All age considerations are as of July 31st of the current year.  Your athlete must be the age of 4 by August 1, 2022, and cannot be the age of 13 by July 31, 2022 in order to participate.

My child is new to football/cheer.  Can we check things out before signing up?

Of course! your athlete may attend our camps in June and July. These camps are a great opportunity to get an early peek into the football program and what to expect for the season. Board members will also be available during the sizing days to answer any questions you may have.

How does HYAA select their coaches?

All coaches are required to submit an application and are interviewed by the HYAA Board prior to selection.  Background checks are performed on all coaches and sideline coach volunteers (i.e., parents and volunteers that want to help out and assist with practices and games, but are not serving as head or assistant coach).
